Official: Russia in talks on one-time large firms' payment to budget

MOSCOW, Feb 8 (PRIME) -- The government is discussing a one-time budget contribution in 2023 with large companies, but is not negotiating a tax raise, First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov said on Wednesday.

"A voluntary contribution by the business is indeed being discussed, a one-time one,” Belousov said.

“Last year's financial results were very good. Many firms, mainly in the first half of the year and the first three quarters, had strongly positive results. We are discussing this."

He also said that the companies are proactively participating in the discussion.

The official also said that Russia has a chance of finishing 2023 with economic growth.

"As I said, our decrease will be limited to 1%, because the first quarter of 2022 was very positive… but after that, many things will depend on the intra-annual dynamics, and we have a chance to rise in 2023," Belousov said.
